Crochet bunny beanie
I just wanted a beanie with bunny ears. It took me a couple of tries, but I got it. First, I used a 4.5 mm hook with medium 4 weight yarn. The skein says use a 5 mm, but I didn’t think the ,5 would matter that much. Yeah, it matters that much I chained the recommended numbers, but the beanie I ended up with was mad tiny. I tried making one of the ears with the 4.5 hook, and I didn’t even waste my time making the other one.
I changed hook sizes after that. I didn’t have all of my hooks with me. I just had the twi projects I was working on. The only other hook size I had was a 6 mm. I knew that was probably gonna make it way bigger, so I chained the same number, but I did less rows.I think it might just be the yarn I used, but the fit on it still isn’t giving beanie like I want. It’s better than the first one, though, so I go ahead and make one of the bunny ears. I kind of just approximate for the ears. Kinda adlibbing what I remember from the tutorial, but the ears came out long and cute
I lastly tried one more time with some thicker yarn and a 5 mm hook. It came out the best. I love the fit, and I also got some accessories from Jo ann’s, too. I got a bell to put on the bottom of the ears, and some rings to act as piercings.I put some cute safety pins in the front to form an X and some little buttons, too.
All in all, this was a fun project that you can get done in a day. I like little wearable projects like these. It is the cold seasons. I might make some leg warms next. Or arm warmers…
